APRIL 18

Join us this Saturday when we talk with local author Tom Cirignano.

Thomas moved to South Boston where, as a young man, he took over his father's auto repair shop in the heart of "Southie" during the reign of mobster, James "Whitey" Bulger.

His experiences at that shop were surreal. Only through pure luck did Tom survive numerous life threatening situations.

Tom's true life story is titled "The Constant Outsider: Memoirs of a South Boston Mechanic."

Due to its time and place in Boston's tumultuous history and the situations and people Tom encountered, "The Constant Outsider" is an exciting story that vividly demonstrates how crucial the decisions we make in life can be. It's an inspiring memoir about never giving up, and pursuing your dreams.

In his follow-up second book, "67 Cents: Creation of a South Boston Killer," the author explores an even more intense and dangerous road. In this fictional adaptation of his memoir, Tom takes the alternate path to crime, violence, and easy money which was easily available to him.

Within "67 Cents," Tom's character, "Nick", says "Yes" to each and every offer that was made to the Southie gas station owner in real life by the Italian Mafia - and "Whitey's" Irish Mob.

Those offers were significant - included an offer to kill a man for Tom. Saying "yes" to these offers changes everything.

There was no turning back.

You'll just have to join us for the May 16th edition of Cranberry Country Journal, heard from 10 to 11 AM on WVBF 1530 AM & FM 99.7 - And throughout the world on the Internet at https://radiostationusa.fm/online/wvbf-1530-am

SATURDAY, MAY 9

Well, today on this edition of Cranberry Country Journal, we’re going to talk with neighbors, listeners and friends and hear about their stories dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic, social isolation and quarantine – even as many of them continue in their jobs.

I thought it would be nice to “get out” and learn how they’ve been handling this crazy period of time that has entered into all of our lives.

We’ve ALL been involved in this unique and oftentimes crazy lifestyle as it has shaped our lives with mask wearing, staying at home or staying safe on the job or at home.

So this morning on The Journal we are going to take some time to mix it up and speak with a Real Estate agent and a Bar Tender, we’ll talk with a Nurse who is also newly appointed hospital Nurse Practitioner, and we’ll speak with a college administrator and even spend a moment with a bass player with a popular area band whose son has just finished up and returned from college.

And if we have some time we may take some calls and hear from you.All that and more on this edition of Cranberry Country Journal for Saturday May 9

 APRIL 18

IN OUR FIRST SEGMENT:Join us this Saturday when we talk with local author Tom Cirignano.

On this week's program...

There’s been a lot of misinformation regarding our pets and the possible effects of the Corona virus.

So this morning I urge you to get your pet dog and gather ‘round the radio or computer if you’re an Internet listener. At my house Charlie our dog will be sitting by the radio with my wife Kate - because on our Cranberry Country Journal news line we’ll have Charlie’s favorite Veterinarian, Dr Simpson- owner and veterinarian with his Country Veterinary Clinic located in Carver, MA

Our family has been bringing our three cats and our dog Charlie to him for quite a while, and we turn to him for his expert advice. And today, we’ll turn to Dr. Simpson to address the Coronavirus – and your pets!

Charlie can hardly wait!
